A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent by Marie Brennan
First off I want to say I LOVED THIS BOOK! Although perhaps it’s really not that remarkable of a book, it is exactly the type of book I love and it feel very much like the type of book I tried to write in middle school (although to compare this book to my writing in middle school is quite an insult).
In this book Lady Trent tells us the story of her early years. Its starts off when she is seven and ends when I want to say she’s 20ish.
How do I explain this? So basically this is set in a world where there are dragons (and other related dragon like creatures) but they aren’t very well studied (since studying them is often very difficult give that they are super dangerous creatures and don’t tend to survive in captivity). This is also what I would think of as an ‘old fashioned’ society. Think Victorian England when women had to wear dresses and ‘came out’ and looked for husbands etc. Basically, Isabella (who later becomes Lady Trent) is a woman who is fascinated by dragons and natural history which is very unladilike etc. Continue reading “(53) A Natural History of Dragons // Bookish Blurb” →
