My parents recently gave me all the Harry Potter books so I decided to reread them. It’s been quite a while since I read them so I started (where most people start) at the beginning.

This book is mostly about Harry Potter learning that’s he’s a wizard and getting acquainted with Hogwarts. There is also a plot all about the sorcerer’s stone but that is almost secondary in this book. I always liked this book because of how much the Dursleys (the people Harry are raised with) are present in it. I know we are supposed to hate them but part of me is very fascinated by them. I heard about this book because the author recently died and apparently lots of people liked her books and I had never read any of them. I decided to go with the ya fantasy series since that seemed a bit more up my alley than some of her other works.

This book is about a boy with magical powers who accidentally creates a major problem and then has to fix it. It’s very much┬áthe first book in a series with a lot of character development and not a ton of plot. It’s also written in a very interesting style without a lot of dialogue and to some extend it does feel like epic fantasy. At times I definitely forgot that the characters were supposed to be young. (36) The Warrior Heir // Bookish Blurb

The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima

This is a YA fantasy story set in real life. The premise of the story is that Jack thinks he is a normal boy and then learns that there is a magical community all around him that wants to use him and/or kill him.
