The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde
This is the third book in the Thursday Next series (see my thoughts on book one here) and in this book Thursday is taking refuge in a book (quite literally) to escape from all the people trying to kill or use her (see book two).
Like the other books, a lot of different things happen in this book. The most interesting (in my mind) was her continued struggles with her memory and her husband. I don’t know what more to say without spoilers but that was probably my favorite aspect of this book. Continue reading “(20) The Well of Lost Plots // Bookish Blurb”
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
I don’t really know how to explain this book. It’s set in an alternate (parallel?) universe where people clone dodo birds for pets and time vortex(es)- what’s the plural of vortex? vorti?- appear randomly. We follow our main character Thursday Next who is a (for lack of a better word) secret agent dealing with literary crimes. After a very important book is stolen, she learns of a criminal mastermind set on destroying everyone’s favorite stories. I mean, are you hooked yet?! The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
I was so upset because I didn’t have a book to read and then I remembered that my mom had passed on this book to me. I think someone gave it to her and she read it and then gave it to me since she thought I might like it.
Basically this book follows the Ganguli family as they immigrate from Calcutta to America. We follow the parents as they first arrive and then for the majority of the book we follow their son as he is increasingly lost and torn between two worlds. Continue reading “(3) The Namesake // Bookish Blurb”
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
After reading March I got a hankering to read Little Women again and since I was able to get it for free on my kindle, I did. The book tells the story of the four March daughters (Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy) and all the adventures they have and lessons they learn. Continue reading “(23) Little Women // Bookish Blurb”
The Magic of Oz by L Frank Baum
In the latest of the Oz books that I’ve read the people of Oz are trying to figure out what to give Ozma for her birthday while the evil Nome king tries to take over Oz once again. Continue reading “(22) The Magic of Oz // Bookish Blurb”
