The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
I was so upset because I didn’t have a book to read and then I remembered that my mom had passed on this book to me. I think someone gave it to her and she read it and then gave it to me since she thought I might like it.
Basically this book follows the Ganguli family as they immigrate from Calcutta to America. We follow the parents as they first arrive and then for the majority of the book we follow their son as he is increasingly lost and torn between two worlds. The Twentieth Wife by Indu Sundaresan
How to describe this book? This is a historical fiction book based off of reality and many Indian legends. It is basically an epic love story following the life of Mehrunnisa as she is born and falls in love with Prince Salim while her life takes her far from him. It is a story of duty and death, intrigue and war, and the idea that love will ultimately prevail. Eat pray love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
After reading Big Magic I realized that this was by the same author and I wanted to read it. I used to not want to read this book because it got so much hype. But guess what, things usually get talked about for a reason. And this one is good.
Basically this book follows the author’s life after her divorce and a heartbreaking relationship when she decides to travel to Italy, India and Indonesia to rebuild herself.
