This is a historical fiction book set in 1590 Venice. We follow Gabriella, the daughter of a doctor who has herself become a doctor (despite all the men around her not liking it). As Bright as Heaven by Susan Meissner
This is by the same author as A Fall of Marigolds. I never would have read this book except that I got my mom to read a Fall of Marigolds and she liked it so much that she went out and found other books by the author.
