All the Truth That’s In Me by Julie Berry
After reading the Passion of Dolssa I started looking at other books written by the same author which is how I came across this book which I never would have otherwise read.
This is a dark teen story in which we follow Judith who disappeared for two years and then reappeared one day with her tongue mutilated and unable to tell people what happened to her. Continue reading “(42) All the Truth That’s In Me // Bookish Blurb”
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
This book is my new obsession. We follow the story of Diana Bishop who is a witch. She doesn’t want to be a witch, she doesn’t want to use her magic, so she does her best to live a very normal ‘human’ life. Unfortunately she magic can’t be ignored and when she accidentally finds a magical book that everyone has been looking for, she is suddenly wanted by everyone in the magical community. Continue reading “(41) A Discovery of Witches // Bookish Blurb”
Up to this Pointe by Jennifer Longo

Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
This book follows the lives of two friends in Italy. We follow their first days in school, the death and violence all around them, up until one of them gets married. This is the first part in a series which I’m assuming continues to tell their story. Continue reading “(39) My Brilliant Friend // Bookish Blurb”
The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry
This is a YA historical story of Dolssa, a girl who talks to her beloved and performs miracles through him; the priests who want her to burn as a heretic; and the sisters who shelter her from them. This is also the story of so much pain and death and yet peace and joy inbetween. Continue reading “(38) The Passion of Dolssa // Bookish Blurb”
The Man in the Ceiling by Jules Feiffer
I was feeling a bit down and wanted something to cheer me up so I picked up this book from my shelf. I’ve read this a lot through the years and I still like it.
Basically this a novel with comic strips thrown in which follows the life of Jimmy and his family. Jimmy is a aspiring comic book writer but this book is about so much more. Basically it’s about family and being true to yourself and never giving up and that failure is ok. Continue reading “(37) The Man in the Ceiling // Bookish Blurb”
A Conspiracy in Belgravia by Sherry Thomas
This is the second book in the Lady Sherlock series and sequel to A Study in Scarlet Women. At first I wasn’t going to continue reading the series but then I did.
Again this is a retelling of Sherlock Holmes except Sherlock is Charlotte in a world where women are supposed to sit there and be pretty. Continue reading “(36) A Conspiracy in Belgravia // Bookish Blurb”
