A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K LeGuin
I heard about this book because the author recently died and apparently lots of people liked her books and I had never read any of them. I decided to go with the ya fantasy series since that seemed a bit more up my alley than some of her other works.
This book is about a boy with magical powers who accidentally creates a major problem and then has to fix it. It’s very much the first book in a series with a lot of character development and not a ton of plot. It’s also written in a very interesting style without a lot of dialogue and to some extend it does feel like epic fantasy. At times I definitely forgot that the characters were supposed to be young.
Overall this book was ok. I guess it was short and kinda boring but it definitely has so much potential. I just wasn’t really gripped by it and I didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters. That being said, the author obviously did a ton of world building which I really appreciated since there is a whole system and history all figured out which added depth to the book.
