Note: Please take this post with a grain of salt. It might be offensive to the mind and body otherwise. Also sorry if you were looking for a book-related post, there will be another one of those soon.
Another of the day trips I went on while I was in Scotland was to Falkirk. Apparently there is nothing in Falkirk and I kind of happen to agree but we went there nonetheless. It was kind of a miserable day (we went from freezing rain to snow and I was not properly attired) but I ended up with some semi nice pictures and a few stories so I thought I would share those with you.
Our first stop of the day was to the Kelpies:

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
When a new person moves into his building, a chain of events unfurl that force Monsier Perdu to come to terms with his broken heart and embark on a journey down the river in his book barge to visit the woman who broke his heart 20 years ago.
This book was filled with quirky interesting characters (Perdu included) who are all affected by love in various ways (aren’t we all…). There are people in and out and lost in love. Also Perdu kind of learns what it is like to love someone like a son as well as the love of friends so I guess it’s not just about romantic love. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman
So this is actually Backman’s second book which is set right before Britt-Marie Was Here (which I didn’t realize when I started it). It follows the life of Elsa, a seven- almost eight year old girl who is different. She gets bullied in school and she’s super smart and her parents are divorced and she lives most of the time with her mom and her mom’s partner (and their soon to be born child – her half sibling- Halfie )in the same building as Britt-Marie.
Basically this book follows the events that unfold when Elsa’s eccentric grandmother dies. She was Elsa’s only real friend but when she dies she leaves Elsa with a letter which leads her on an adventure to discover the past of her grandmother’s life and also to learn more about the other people in her building. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
I forget where I got the recommendation for this book from but when I saw the physical book my reaction was ‘Oh no, that looks like a hardcore fantasy book, I’m not going to like that’. I almost didn’t even read it but I am very glad that I did.
Basically this book is about three kingdoms that decide to go to war. It is told from four different perspectives throughout the three kingdoms with interjections from a fifth character in a magical separate world. Continue reading “(37) Falling Kingdoms // Bookish Blurb”
The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
This is a YA fantasy story set in real life. The premise of the story is that Jack thinks he is a normal boy and then learns that there is a magical community all around him that wants to use him and/or kill him.
Although I did end up enjoying this story, I found it very hard to get into it. I just didn’t care about the characters or the situation but I’m glad I persisted. Continue reading “(36) The Warrior Heir // Bookish Blurb”
Today will be different by Maria Semple
This book is by the same author who wrote Where’d You Go Bernadette? which is why I picked up this book. Spoiler, I did not enjoy this book nearly as much as I hoped. In fact, I almost didn’t finish this book.
I found this book incredibly confusing which I guess it’s supposed to be considering it follows a woman who doesn’t really have anything put together. Basically we follow one day in her life but we also switch to other time periods and to realities that aren’t real and it’s just confusing. Basically we follow Liz on a day that she wants to be a good day but ends up just kind of going haywire. Continue reading “(35) Today Will Be Different // Bookish Blurb”
