The Tin Woodman of Oz by L Frank Baum
This is actually the 12th book in the original Oz series. Most people don’t seem to be aware that it is a series at all but it is. I’m slowly working my way through all the books (I read the first 11 last year) which shouldn’t be very hard since they are all quite short and easy to read.
This book concerns the Tin Woodman and is essentially a quest to find the girl he loved before he was made into tin. Along the way we meet many new characters and they go on funny little adventures. As in most of the oz books, the majority of the book is them wandering around meeting odd people/creatures and getting in and out of danger. Overall a cute easy book. There is not a lot to say about it but I think most kids would enjoy all the imagination involved and there are a few witty phrases that adults might catch. Also all of the Oz books are old enough that you should be able to legally find ebook copies of them for free online.
