The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Ok, so this was another YA romance book. Somehow I ended up with a bunch of them all at once. In this book Andie thinks she has her life figured out and then a couple of things happen and she realizes that life could be different and so much better. Again, I was not in love but I will say that although it had many similarities to My Life Next Door, I think I liked this one better. Borders day trip pt.2 // Scotland

CIMG1687aSo on this day trip, in the morning after my evening in Edinburgh we met and then went to our first stop which was the Traqair house. I forget the historical significance of this house but it was old and we saw lots of old stuff in it. Continue reading “Borders day trip pt.2 // Scotland”

(17) The Invention of Wings // Bookish Blurb

This is a historical fiction book loosely based on some historical characters. The book follows the lives of two women; Sarah (a southern white woman) and Hetty ‘Handful’, the slave she is given on her 11th birthday.

The book is all about trying to find your place and make your life better but mostly it is about trying to survive and make the most out of your situation. Obviously the women live very different lives and at times it seems as though their lives have nothing to do with each other yet the contrast between their lives is very meaningful. I don’t remember how I came across this book and thought I would get it. I kinda wish I hadn’t. Pretty much, this is a YA love story about rich Samantha who has a busy controlling mother and Jase the next door neighbor who is from a big crazy (poor) family and how they fall in love one summer. (15) The Sun is Also a Star // Bookish Blurb

coverThe Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

This is a YA modern love story and it is so cute. It primarily covers one day, has super short chapters, and is a very easy read. Primarily we switch back and forth between Natasha and Daniel’s perspectives but we also jump around briefly into other peoples’ perspectives which I really appreciated (kind of like 2am at the Cat’s Pajamas) in that we come to some understanding as to why the other characters act the way they do. The receptionist and that random driver are no longer just ambiguous people and we see a little into their lives which really ties into the whole idea of this book that in order to understand a little thing ¬†you have to understand the whole universe.
